Project
FIGHTING CANCER RESISTANCE: MULTIDISCIPLINARY INTEGRATED PLATFORM FOR AN INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGICAL APPROACH TO ONCOTHERAPIES

Description
The Campania Oncotherapies Project consists of the Development of a regional integrated multidisciplinary platform for combating cancer drug resistance by:
Development of innovative therapeutic approaches (e.g., cell replacement therapy, innovative vaccines, gene therapy and bacteriophages) for the prophylaxis and/or treatment of drug-resistant cancer diseases.
Identification of tumor-specific biomarkers from samples taken from patients or biobanks
Identification and optimization of experimental protocols alternative to the use of laboratory animals
Identification of new drug targets and their modulators based on existing lines of research and identified biomarkers
Development of innovative noninvasive approaches for preclinical diagnosis, including through sensors and biosensors
Development of innovative formulations for drug-delivery and drug-targeting
Implementation of precision medicine procedures (screening, treatment, clinical outcomes) on the basis of integrated results related to the above points

Objectives
The project aims to activate a new mode of collaboration between the world of research and innovation, with a view to Open Innovation and knowledge sharing, through the systemization of the various regional market players operating in the field of oncology with the goal of fostering a better quality innovation process for the healthcare system. To achieve this goal, the aim is to create a regional testing hub for early cancer identification, characterization of resistance profile and creation of alternative therapies for patients who do not respond to conventional therapies.

Expected Results.
Development of innovative personalized therapeutic approaches for prophylaxis and/or treatment of oncological diseases;
Development of non-invasive approaches for early detection of cancer through sensors and biosensors.
